Historic Artists' Homes & Studios Virtual Road Trip: The Georgia O’Keeffe Home & Studio
The Historic Artist Homes & Studios Virtual Road Trip is BACK in 2022! Join us to explore the unique creative spaces and art-making practices of six American artists.

Fueled by the James Castle House in Boise, Idaho, and the Historic Artists' Homes and Studios (HAHS) program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, this six-part, monthly series ventures deep into the museums, homes, and preserved spaces that nurtured the creation of thousands of artworks.

Traveling from Buena Vista, Georgia to Abiquiú, New Mexico, as the fourth stop of this six-part virtual road trip, we’ll adventure into the desert home, studio, and garden of painter Georgia O’Keeffe. The rugged landscapes and collected objects that informed O’Keeffe’s vast body of work tell a story of place that continues to inspire. We’ll explore the present-day site, a breathtaking blend of architectural influences that was her personal haven for over three decades.

This free, one-hour event will take place via ZOOM on July 21, 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT. One registration is needed per household. Live American Sign Language (ASL) will be provided.

The Georgia O’Keeffe Home & Studio in Abiquiu, New Mexico reflects a blend of Native American and Spanish Colonial building styles, regional architectural traditions dating back centuries. A quiet sanctuary from which to draw inspiration, O’Keeffe made Abiquiú her permanent home in 1949 until 1984. Today, the home provides a special look into the life of one of America’s greatest artists and is the primary resource for those wishing to study O’Keeffe’s art and her ties to Northern New Mexico.
